The Philippine Electricity Market Corporation (PEMC) grieves over the untimely death of its Chief Governance Officer (CGO) Rauf A. Tan on 05 March 2020.
An electric power industry stalwart, he served as the National Power Corporation's Comptroller before moving on to become part of the Energy Regulatory Commission as a Commissioner.
CGO Tan was a devout Muslim who actively supported and promoted the faith through his foundation, the Al Husna Foundation, Inc.
In 2017, he came out of semi-retirement when he was one of five industry experts selected to be part of the PEMC Transition Committee to see to the completion of the independent market operator.
As PEMC's CGO, he sought to strengthen the culture of compliance among the WESM participants while establishing PEMC's role as the governance body of the electricity spot market.
